The Bloominator is modelled after a tulip flower; it consists of a large, bulb-shaped flower head adorned with quills atop a metallic shaft. The base of the shaft has spiked plates on each side.
Essentially an immobile weapons turret, the Bloominator cannot move. It remains in place and spits up spiked mines from its flower that fall in seemingly random angles.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Bloominators are encountered in Angel Island Zone. They are immobile, but regularly pulsate and spit up bombs. A single attack from the player is enough to destroy them. While the spikes on the Bloominator don't deal damage to the player, their is significant risk of the Bloominator spitting up a bomb just as the player attacks. However, if the player has a Fire, Water or Lightning Shield, the Bloominator's bombs will bounce off harmlessly.
Sonic Mania Plus
Bloominators appear once more in Angel Island Zone at the start of Sonic Mania Plus' Encore Mode. Their appearance and behaviour remains the same as they were in Sonic 3.
