The Coconuts Badnik is modelled after a monkey, possessing a humanoid body structure with a large head featuring a simian-like face, and a prehensile tail that it curls around objects. The Coconuts prefers to attack from the trees, using its tail to steady itself while it throws coconut-shaped grenades at passersby.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Coconuts appear in the Emerald Hill Zone, hugging the palm trees littered throughout the stage. They clamber up and down the trees and drop coconut grenades when the player passes beneath them. They can be defeated by a Spin Jump, though if the attack is poorly timed, the Coconuts might throw a coconut just as the player makes contact, resulting in the player losing their rings or a life.
Coconuts appear in the Green Hill Zone in Sonic Blast, having the same appearance and behaviour as they did in Sonic 2. They can be found in trees waiting to attack the player with their coconut bombs.
Sonic Pocket Adventure
Coconuts appear in the Neo South Island stage, once again using the same attack patterns as in previous appearances.
Sonic Lost World
Coconuts returns in Sonic Lost World, this time with a modified design. Most of its body is coloured orange, making it more closely resemble fellow monkey Badnik Kiki. Furthermore, its coconut grenades now actually explode.
Coconuts can be found climbing palm trees in the fourth act of Tropical Coast where they throw large exploding coconuts at Sonic when he approaches. In this game, Sonic is capable of using his Flying Kick move to punt the coconut grenades through the air before they explode, using the Coconuts' own weapons against them.
