The Rhinobot is a type of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. Introduced in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, it is modeled on a rhinoceros and is one of the more blatantly aggressive Badnik models Eggman has produced.

Description Edit

The structure of the Rhinobot is similar to that of the Moto Bug. It has a somewhat rounded body, covered in grey plating with a vermillion stripe running across it. Its head consists of grey and vermillion plating; it sports two sharp horns on its snout for goring its targets. It runs on a single wheel.

Game appearances Edit

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles Edit

Rhinobots appear in Angel Island Zone, the first zone of the game. They are encountered on flat terrain and move about from side to side. When the player is in its sights, the Rhinobot will suddenly charge forward with a burst of speed in an attempt to ram its target. If the player avoids its charging attack by jumping over it, the Rhinobot will turn around to charge again. It can be easily destroyed by any single attack.

Sonic Mania Plus Edit

Rhinobots appear once more in Angel Island Zone, which can only be accessed in Encore Mode. Their behaviour and appearance is identical to their appearance in Sonic 3.

Other appearances Edit

Sonic Adventures Edit

Rhinobots in Sonic Adventures

In the French Sonic Adventures comic book, Dr. Robotnik sends numerous Badniks into a huge chase after Sonic and Tails when they escaped from his ship. When Sonic and Tails fall into the river, Robotnik then deploys Rhinobots with parachutes to chase them to the edge of the river until Sonic and Tails fall down the waterfall.

Sonic the Comic Edit

In the UK-published Sonic the Comic, Rhinobots were among the third generation of Badniks created by Dr. Robotnik. They did not appear often in the comics, but were mentioned in dialogue several times. In the Issue #45 story "Day of the Death Egg", Grimer treated Dr. Robotnik to a simulation of the Death Egg's destructive capabilities. The simulation began with Sonic and Tails fighting several Badniks in the Emerald Hill Zone, including a Rhinobot which Sonic destroyed by luring it over a cliff.

Sonic Mania Adventures Edit

SMA3-20

In the third episode of the animated webseries, a trio of Rhinobots attack Knuckles the Echidna while he is guarding the Master Emerald. Knuckles makes short work of the Rhinobots, but while he was distracted fighting the Badniks, Dr. Eggman was able to steal the Master Emerald.
