The Spikebonker is a type of Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. It has a domed head and cone-shaped lower body, and a canister on the back. It hovers through the air with a spiked mace-ball rotating around it. It will fling the mace-ball towards an enemy, but unlike the Orbinaut, the Spikebonker's mace-ball will be pulled back to it after being cast.

Game appearances[]

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles[]

Spikebonkers are encountered aboard the Death Egg during Sonic's campaign in Sonic & Knuckles. They float just above the floor, moving side to side until they spot Sonic. Upon sight of Sonic, the Spikebonker will throw its mace-ball, though this can be avoided with relative ease by jumping. The best time to attack is when the mace-ball is being thrown as the Spikebonker is most vulnerable at that point, although it is possible to hit the Spikebonker even when its weapon is rotating around it as the top of its head remains exposed.

Appearances in other media[]

Sonic the Comic[]

Spikebonker2

Spikebonkers appear during the "Disaster!" story arc in Sonic the Comic, after Doctor Robotnik has launched the Death Egg. After boarding the flying fortress, Sonic is attacked by several of these Badniks as well as Eggrobos, ultimately being overwhelmed and captured. However, he does not remain captive for long as Knuckles manages to activate the Floating Island's defensive systems, piloting the island into combat with the Death Egg and firing on it. While Robotnik is distracted by this assault, Sonic takes advantage of the situation and escapes with the Master Emerald.
